Ahmed F. Ghoniem is the Ronald C. Crane Professor of Mechanical Engineering. He is the principal investigator and director of research of the Center of Excellence in Energy.director of the Center for Energy and Propulsion Research and the Reacting Gas Dynamics Laboratory at MIT.
He received his B.Sc. and M.Sc.degree from Cairo University, and Ph.D. at the University of California, Berkeley. His research covers clean energy and combustion with focus on CO2 capture, renewable energy and alternative fuels, and computational engineering.
He has supervised more than 130 M.Sc., Ph.D. and post-doctoral students, published more than 500 refereed articles in leading journals and conferences, lectured extensively around the World, and consulted for the aerospace, automotive and energy industry. He is Fellow of ASME and APS, and the Combustion Institute and associate fellow of AIAA. Among his awards are the KAUST Investigator Award, the ASME James Harry Potter Gold Medal, and the AIAA Propellant and Combustion Award.

Dr. David E. Bloom is Clarence James Gamble Professor of Economics and Demography in the Department of Global Health and Population at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. Dr. Bloom is an economist whose work focuses on health, demography, education, and labor. In recent years, he has written extensively on primary, secondary, and tertiary education in developing countries and on the links among health status, population dynamics, and economic growth. Dr. Bloom has published over 300 articles, book chapters, and books.
Dr. Bloom has previously been a member of the public policy faculty at Carnegie-Mellon University and the economics faculty at Columbia University and Harvard University. He currently serves as a Faculty Research Associate at the National Bureau of Economic Research and is a member of the Board of Directors of PSI and of the Board of Trustees of amfAR, the Foundation for AIDS Research. Dr. Bloom also serves as Director of Harvard's Program on the Global Demography of Aging. In April 2005, Dr. Bloom was elected Fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. Dr. Bloom received a BS in Industrial and Labor Relations from Cornell University in 1976 and a PhD in Economics and Demography from Princeton University in 1981.

Victor O. Lina is senior instructional professor of economics in the Kenneth C. Griffin Department of Economics at the the University of Chicago where he has served as Co-Director of Undergraduate Studies since 2004 and as Co-Director of MA programs since 2016. In his administrative capacity he has overseen the design and implementation of two separate tracks within the major in economics, one in data science and the other in business economics, and he has overseen the design and implementation of two separate masters’ programs in economics. His research interests lie in price theoretic models of the non-market sector. He has taught courses in numerous subfields of economics at leading institutions in Latin America including PUC-Chile, PUC-Paraguay, and the Universidad del Desarollo in Chile. He is currently working on an advanced price theory textbook for undergraduate and masters’ students. He served on the editorial board of Cuadernos de Economia, one of the leading economics journals in Latin America. He holds a BA in economics and a BA in mathematics from Lafayette College and an MA and a Ph.D. in economics, both from the University of Chicago.
