Prof. Ahmed F. Ghoniem

  • Ahmed F. Ghoniem is the Ronald C. Crane Professor of Mechanical Engineering. He is the principal investigator and director of research of the Center of Excellence in Energy.director of the Center for Energy and Propulsion Research and the Reacting Gas Dynamics Laboratory at MIT.
  • He received his B.Sc. and M.Sc.degree from Cairo University, and Ph.D. at the University of California, Berkeley. His research covers clean energy and combustion with focus on CO2 capture, renewable energy and alternative fuels, and computational engineering.
  • He has supervised more than 130 M.Sc., Ph.D. and post-doctoral students, published more than 500 refereed articles in leading journals and conferences, lectured extensively around the World, and consulted for the aerospace, automotive and energy industry. He is Fellow of ASME and APS, and the Combustion Institute and associate fellow of AIAA. Among his awards are the KAUST Investigator Award, the ASME James Harry Potter Gold Medal, and the AIAA Propellant and Combustion Award.

Prof. Abdel badeeh Salem

  • He is a full Professor of Computer Science since June 1989 at Faculty of Science , Ain Shams University, Cairo, Egypt. In 1996 he moved to the Faculty Computer and Information Sciences. Now he is a professor emeritus since October 2007 . He was a Director of Scientific Computing Center at Ain Shams University (1984-1990). His research includes intelligent computing, expert systems, biomedical informatics, and intelligent e-learning technologies, knowledge engineering and Biometrics . He has published around 600 papers in refereed journals and conference proceedings in these areas, 110 of them are in Scopus indexed. He has been involved in more than 600 conferences and workshops as a plenary speaker, member of International Program Committees , workshop/invited session organizer and Session Chair. He is author and co-author of 25 Books in English and Arabic Languages.
  • He was one of the founders of the following events, First Egyptian Workshop on Expert Systems 1987, Int. Cairo Conference on Artificial Intelligence Applications in 1992 and Int. Conf. on Intelligent Computing and Information Systems 2002, and one of the main sustainers of annual Int. Romanian Internet Learning Workshop Project (RILW), 1997.In addition he was Secretary of Egyptian Computer Society (1984-1990), Member of National Committee in Informatics – Academy of Scientific Research and Technology (1992-200), Member of Egyptian Committee in the Inter-Governmental Informatics Program, IIP-UNISCO, Paris (1988-1990) and Coordinator of the Annual International Conference for Statistics, Scientific Computing, and Social and Demographic Research (1983-1990). In addition he was a partner of a MEDCAMPUS Projects on Methodologies and Technologies for Distance Education in Mediterranean (1993-1995). In addition He is a Member of the Editorial Board of 50 international and national Journals in the following countries: Canada; Italy, Romania, Japan, Turkey, UK and Egypt. Also, He is member of many Int. Scientific Societies and associations in USA, UK, Switzerland, Austria, Canada and Egypt. He is the Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Bio-Medical Informatics and e-Health,India, Egyptian Computer Science Journal and Associate Editor of International Journal of Applications of Fuzzy Sets and Artificial Intelligence ,Greece. Prof. Adel Badawy El-Shabasy

  • Adel Badawy El-Shabasy is Emirate Professor of Materials and Production Engineering. He is with the Department of Design and Production Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Ain Shams University.

  • He received his B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees from Ain Shams University, and Ph.D. under channel System between Aachen University, Aachen, West Germany and Ain Shams University. He received many courses for soft skills, “Training of Trainer” (TOT) I & II with American Univ. in Cairo. “Excellent in Leadership” with Case Western Reserve Univ., Cleveland, Ohio, USA. In addition to 12 of training courses with Ain Shams University. He is a certified Trainer with many training centers as well as Egyptian Society for Mechanical Engineering (ESME).
  • His research interest includes clean energy System for Solar energy, Biogas. and solar fuel. New and Renewable Materials. Assessment of the Mechanical Properties for Composites & Advanced Materials. He has supervised more than 10 M.Sc., Ph.D., published more than 30 refereed articles in leading journals and conferences, lectured extensively around Egypt, GUC, AASTMT, ESRI, HOIE, & Modern Academy.
  • He is a Referee Member of Supreme council of Universities Committee for Promotion of Professors and Associate Professors, MT College and CMRDI committees. He also refried several M.Sc. and Ph. D. Dr. Hatim Zaghloul

  • Dr. Zaghloul is introducing the 6G technology: a revolutionary concept that brings the cost of the network down by almost a hundred times with the goal of delivering internet to half the world that does not have access to it because of its cost. The concept is comprised of WiFi islands where all access points within the island talk to each other via a proprietary mesh technology. These islands are connected together via blockchain nodes that also sever as servers for virtual machines and cybersecurity. This allows the over 13B devices in the world to connect to the network whilst allowing a low cost smart phone to access the network using the resources of the blockchain server. The 6G Forum (www.6gforum.net) was formed to promote this concept and currently has over 100 members.
  • Dr. Hatim Zaghloul, an Egyptian Canadian, is recognized as a visionary leader in the hi-tech community. In 1992, Dr. Zaghloul co-founded Wi-LAN Inc., and under his direction, the two technologies he co-invented with Dr. Michel Fattouche became the heart of many wireless communications standards: WiFi (IEEE802.11a/g/n), 3G (H and H+), LTE and 4G (WiMAX).
  • Dr. Zaghloul holds a B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering from Cairo University as well as a M.Sc. and a Ph.D. in Physics from the University of Calgary.

Dr. Hoda Kamal Soussa

  • Dr. Hoda Kamal Soussa, works as a professor of water resources engineering at the Irrigation and Hydraulics Department, Faculty of Engineering, Ain Shams University, since 2011. Her research work focuses on the surface and groundwater Hydrology as her PhD was entitled “conjunctive us of surface and groundwater”, acquired through mutual work between BSC technical university in Germany and ASU at 2001. She founded the Water quality laboratory in 2009 at ASU and she is the manager. She worked with different tools of modeling and GIS application in water engineering, since her graduation in 1993. Her teaching experiences are in both undergraduate and postgraduate courses in many water related topics (i.e. Engineering Hydrology, GIS in water resources Engineering, Irrigation and Drainage Engineering, Water Environment Engineering and Water Quality, Water management and others). Besides, supervising and refereed many dissertations (PhDs and MSc) in relevant water resources and hydrology disciplines.
  • She is also certified consultant by the engineering syndicate in the field of “Hydraulic design for drainage of storm water and protection against flash floods”, in 2016. The EEAA certified her as a consultant in “Modelling of pollutants dispersion in water”, especially for hydrodynamic wastewater simulation in 2020. She also had been involved and managing many international projects (i.e. Tempus, Erasmus, and…). She had published several manuscripts in peer reviewed journals through her applied projects and post graduate studies under her supervision. She also was working in the 2009 to 2011 as the water consultant for SEKEM group, and within this period she supervised the establishing of the drinking bottled water company at ISIS. She is also the founder of the GIS unit in the faculty of engineering, and the founder and manager of the water quality laboratory. Soussa is also a reviewer at different peered journals (i.e., the Arabian Journal of Geosciences, journal of Ain Shams university faculty of engineering, and CLEAN - Soil, Air, Water journals, and Alexandria university Journal and Port Said university Journal, ...). She is now the manager of the center of excellence of water recently founded at ASU.

Dr. Maged Ghoneima

  • Maged Ghoneima obtained his BSc and MSc from the Electronics & Communication Department at Ain Shams University in 1997 and 2000, respectively. He then obtained his PhD in Computer Engineering from Northwestern university in 2006. He joined Intel Research Labs from 2003-2006 and then moved to NVIDIA as a Senior Circuit Designer. He has more than 50 reviewed publications in top journals and conferences. Maged has also co-founded three startups in the fields of Electronics, Systems and Software. He led the Mechatronics Engineering department at Ain Shams University 2014-2016, while also managing the ASU Innovation Hub (iHub) that was started in 2011.

Dr. Mohamed M. Sabry Aly

  • Mohamed M. Sabry obtained his Ph.D. from EPFL in 2013 and was a postdoc in Stanford University from 2014 till 2017. His primary research interests are system-level design and optimization and resource management of computing systems by leveraging the benefits of emerging technologies (for computing, storage, interconnect, and cooling) to boost computing performance and energy efficiency beyond what is achievable today from large-scale cloud to small-scale embedded domains. This includes device-, circuit-, and architecture modeling, design-space exploration and hardware-software co-optimization.
  • His work on Nanoengineered Computing System Technology (N3XT), under the supervision of Prof. Subhasish Mitra and Prof. H.-S. Philip Wong has received worldwide recognition in various news press. It shows the prospects of monolithic 3D computing systems enabled by emerging nanotechnologies, such as carbon nanotubes and resistive memories.
  • He has been awarded the Swiss National Science Foundation Early Post-Doctoral Mobility Fellowship in 2013.

Dr. Mohamed Mahmoud

  • Dr. Mohamed M. E. A. Mahmoud received PhD degree from the University of Waterloo (Ontario - Canada), Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, in April 2011 under the supervision of Prof. Xuemin (Sherman) Shen. The title of his thesis is Efficient packet-drop thwarting and user-privacy preserving protocols for multi-hop wireless networks . From May 2011 to July 2012, he was a postdoctoral fellow in the Broadband Communications Research group, Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, University of Waterloo, with Prof. Sherman (Xuemin) Shen and Prof. Xiaodong Lin (University of Ontario Institute of Technology). Dr. Mahmoud is currently a visiting professor in University of Waterloo and postdoctoral fellow in Computer Science - Ryerson University under the supervision of Prof. Jelena Misic .
  • Dr. Mahmoud is the first author for more than twenty papers published in major IEEE conferences and transactions. He won the prestigious Best Paper Award (international award) from IEEE International Conference on Communications (ICC 09), Dresden, Germany, 2009. This award was one of only fourteen given, among 1046 papers presented and more than 3000 submitted, and was the sole award for the Communication and Information Systems Security Symposium. He also has received the Distinguished Teaching Assistantship Award granted to the best teaching assistant in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, based on evaluations by students.
  • His research interest includes wireless network security, mobile ad hoc and multihop cellular wireless networks, wireless sensor networks, delay-tolerant wireless networks, users and location privacy-preserving schemes, trust-based and energy-aware routing protocols, anonymous and secure routing protocols, cooperation incentive mechanisms, micropayment systems, trust and reputation systems, applied cryptography, natural language processing, machine translation systems, expert systems, artificial intelligence applications.

  • Walid El-Khattam obtained his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Electrical Engineering from Ain Shams University, Cairo, Egypt in 1991 and 1996 respectively. He received his Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Waterloo, Ontario, Canada in 2005. He joined University of Arkansas, in the U.S. as a research associate in 2005. He worked as a Postdoctoral Fellow for the University of Western Ontario and a researcher for Hydro-One the Ontario province distribution company in Canada from 2005 to 2009. Currently, he holds several positions at Faculty of Engineering, Ain Shams University; Professor in the Department of Electrical Power and Machines, Head of the Energy and Renewable Energy Engineering Program, Coordinator of the New and Renewable Energy Master of Engineering Program, and Director of the Center of Excellence for Energy in cooperation with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and USAID (United States Agency for International Development). He worked as a consultant for UNDP, EU, and USAID from 2010 till now, and the Egyptian Electric Utility and Consumer Protection Regulatory "EgyptERA", Cairo, Egypt from 2010 to 2019. His area of research is distributed generation performance, renewable energy resources’ codes, operation, and regulatory aspects related to their integration into the grid, Micro and Smart Grids, and electricity markets.
